The Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD) has released the response to the Customs policy issues raised and deliberated at the Customs-Private Sector Consultative Panel (CPSCP) Meeting No. 1/2023 (“Minit Mesyuarat Panel Perundangan Kastam-Swasta Bil. 1/2023”) which was held on 16 May 2023.

The objective of the meeting is to discuss on Customs policy issues with various professional bodies and associations from the private sector.  The meeting was chaired by the Director General of Customs Malaysia.

The issues raised at the meeting include the following (extracted and reproduced in the original language as recorded in the minutes):-

Matters Arising  (Item 3.4.1 – 3.4.14)

1.   GST refunds based on returns submitted / revised after 2018

2.   LMW (Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse) company surrenders LMW licence and applies to be sales tax registered manufacturer

3.   Registered manufacturer (RM) imports raw materials under C1 sales tax exemption, but  due to quality issues, RM has to return the raw materials to overseas supplier

4.   Unproductive workflow

5.   Prohibition of imports order and manner of import
